We ordered 2 sirloin steaks and 2 cheese burgers (if my memories are correct).</p><p>The order took more than 45 minutes after ordering to come, partly because we were told that there was "no fries" in the restaurant. (and later on, fries did come out. Maybe someone went shopping.)</p><p>During the 45 minutes, I realized the chefs and kitchen staff were very very busy because they were preparing for Uber or take out foods, which in this era is an important source of income.</p><p>After 45 minutes, the dishes finally came.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizyIyxsFZNhgODYSt7e4RXoVrpDhQD-3ZcMn1tWvB0Lit_WSlVCt6YZoIasmyvx7f8I0kr1eLwfHhiVnlBuFpfHWK08lnxHYNmBUo5dYYyqAI_ralcIs3vdawcA-IMpycqqHwIVZ6XGCGF7LcUPLkWxEkyeqC8j_bFLY3Ln8OKZ3TtV7Mys61YI22_4w/s1477/1656525626245.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1108" data-original-width="1477" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizyIyxsFZNhgODYSt7e4RXoVrpDhQD-3ZcMn1tWvB0Lit_WSlVCt6YZoIasmyvx7f8I0kr1eLwfHhiVnlBuFpfHWK08lnxHYNmBUo5dYYyqAI_ralcIs3vdawcA-IMpycqqHwIVZ6XGCGF7LcUPLkWxEkyeqC8j_bFLY3Ln8OKZ3TtV7Mys61YI22_4w/s320/1656525626245.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><p>However, probably because they were too busy, our 2 steaks were black, overcooked with surface charcoal of 2mm. They were so hard to chew that we cut the surface off to eat, which defeats the entire purpose of paying money for Alberta beef.</p><p>My wife was really emotionally upset because this shouldn't be this way, paying money for blackened food which is barely edible. I decided to bring my family to Alberta, a province close by. We flew to Calgary from the Abbotsford Airport. Because of Covid and short of staff, we were delayed both on the way there and back. We picked up a rental car there. Calgary Airport is surprisingly new and spacious. The rental car is very expensive in this covid era, and there were a bunch of people waiting for rental cars.</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs9eZILrK9_CqxCrAPuWU2ApB6icwvSdYQBsXXkODcmE73X_gLVmNnTGsT8TnzRW7Cfm_X_c9ndkQlNxsWMT1jy6PJmAAKubK7aBd9CTHZYL76yghhRQyBA69bRa0Epib9i9qETCH-DwQ3oiiLSQlQLhJEJPmx42gkuIujUXc0aWYjmohDioMPDwnLTQ/s4032/20220625_154039.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="4032" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjs9eZILrK9_CqxCrAPuWU2ApB6icwvSdYQBsXXkODcmE73X_gLVmNnTGsT8TnzRW7Cfm_X_c9ndkQlNxsWMT1jy6PJmAAKubK7aBd9CTHZYL76yghhRQyBA69bRa0Epib9i9qETCH-DwQ3oiiLSQlQLhJEJPmx42gkuIujUXc0aWYjmohDioMPDwnLTQ/s320/20220625_154039.jpg" width="240" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The rental car was a red Kia Soul. This feels like, "oh, this is Canada". I am from British Columbia, and the province is full of mountains. The roads are not wide and straight like this. We had music playing in the car which makes the 3 hour drive easier. There was periodical thunder rain, but we managed to pull through.</p><p>We stayed in the hotel operated by the West Edmonton Mall, West Edmonton Mall Inn. The room was okay, but the bed was saggy. The old guy in the front was grumpy at night but the girl in the morning was helpful.</p><p>We went to check the mall and bought dinner, and planned to continue exploring the biggest mall in Canada the next day.</p><p><br /></p>Yoshihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00983823728317745827noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1553209888636024258.post-24424612998396023662022-06-01T21:17:00.004-07:002022-06-01T21:17:53.596-07:00New Batch of Finch Babies...Parents Feeding Kids<p>The Finches has been quiet through spring this year. It is already 2022....so fast.</p><p>Time passes by faster and faster in the Covid era, and everyday seems the same in Canada. I really envy the people who live in Japan, Taiwan or the USA because they can still go somewhere fun or tropical.</p><p>This has been a long and cold winter in western Canada for the last 2 weeks and more. The temerature has been -10 to -26 degrees most of the time with snow in somedays. The moisture all turn into ice or icicles.</p><p>Here is a picture of the icicles on my balcony:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgv45VJ9ynvw-QGVoxtpo-pF3UulNxqfDEoT_0hrdwHmK9GOKPki6KGfUiy-lfLWYrE3pzv2BBP7ByqOrpC732FXIi8-vnkwiNKAcu_i4tquYFhhbONI3M0D0Bq6EZjqsIVL9bC9PHcjHFJuphblYwdK-JocmysItVKr3NqZ5kRZUM2BLChRUe7drCfTQ=s1477" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1108" data-original-width="1477" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgv45VJ9ynvw-QGVoxtpo-pF3UulNxqfDEoT_0hrdwHmK9GOKPki6KGfUiy-lfLWYrE3pzv2BBP7ByqOrpC732FXIi8-vnkwiNKAcu_i4tquYFhhbONI3M0D0Bq6EZjqsIVL9bC9PHcjHFJuphblYwdK-JocmysItVKr3NqZ5kRZUM2BLChRUe7drCfTQ=s320" width="320" /></a></div><div><br /></div><div>The huge icicles are from my dryer vent, so the warm air has become ice overnight.</div><div><br /></div><div>(kind of scary when they dropped down.)</div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhlyzil-5GX8zeE8W1u4Cyicax6vejs_RMxod5A38G0OQv2YHZlSHuMXOSpMGa13u6TtyJPAPor0ooQaxlz2Nu-vRTfpvtHGKyLrTtKOOSKV1vVfy4haqy1vwhx0ovEYW9Cc4UakbzZFnppRj_0U9FU96gXKMrIRexMId66j1bNEJHsjhfvqtRf2bp5lA=s1477" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1477" data-original-width="1108" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhlyzil-5GX8zeE8W1u4Cyicax6vejs_RMxod5A38G0OQv2YHZlSHuMXOSpMGa13u6TtyJPAPor0ooQaxlz2Nu-vRTfpvtHGKyLrTtKOOSKV1vVfy4haqy1vwhx0ovEYW9Cc4UakbzZFnppRj_0U9FU96gXKMrIRexMId66j1bNEJHsjhfvqtRf2bp5lA=s320" width="240" /></a></div><br /><p><br /></p>Yoshihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00983823728317745827noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1553209888636024258.post-50310639330028804572021-12-05T16:22:00.006-08:002021-12-05T16:22:59.662-08:00Canadian Tim Horton's New Tim Biebs<p>After our walk to Burnaby Lake today, we went to Tim Horton's for the new advertised "Tim Biebs", promoted by Justin Bieber.</p><p>Basically, it is the usual Tim Bits coated with different coatings with 3 flavors: Birthday Cake, Chocolate Fudge and Sour Cream Chocolate. They cost around 20 cents more per piece.</p><br /><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB2Ah9WxgeiVakwiRNzhL_qTZztuEdtbiZ0mlbG5HCN7izM8Z1g1PRA_FllfneCXlleNMkGIn4Y9-GW-r6igLkQdpjsZZAw1YbYGSMTUcMi5RjS6lDpWD18ghKN12IsYvFcvWmDXvPyJvt/s1854/1638744505912.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" data-original-height="883" data-original-width="1854" height="152" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjB2Ah9WxgeiVakwiRNzhL_qTZztuEdtbiZ0mlbG5HCN7izM8Z1g1PRA_FllfneCXlleNMkGIn4Y9-GW-r6igLkQdpjsZZAw1YbYGSMTUcMi5RjS6lDpWD18ghKN12IsYvFcvWmDXvPyJvt/s320/1638744505912.jpg" width="320" /></a></td></tr><tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Tim Horton's Tim Biebs Box</td></tr></tbody></table><br />Personally, I like Birthday Cake more because it have more impact taste wise. However Chocolate Fudge is okay, too. Actually, the other two chocolate taste are pretty similar. Some people say they don't really feel too much difference. <br /><br /><p><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha7LR_HAkgdQcFbz_17H8jw7LG-Hak1_zoWD_mMOF_b1n3ju-Shf0viYyPKiSXhOn1qOjAT_lgrj1zYp5peSZWy56qld56oEHG_k6h2Gl4h9JzaFghw1L1FFeWiqREMR1VEcpHcD-Pu45U/s1477/1638744505889.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1108" data-original-width="1477" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha7LR_HAkgdQcFbz_17H8jw7LG-Hak1_zoWD_mMOF_b1n3ju-Shf0viYyPKiSXhOn1qOjAT_lgrj1zYp5peSZWy56qld56oEHG_k6h2Gl4h9JzaFghw1L1FFeWiqREMR1VEcpHcD-Pu45U/s320/1638744505889.jpg" width="320" /></a></p><p>At least Tim Horton's exploring more ways to get new product on the market. However, I think they should do it without inflating the price. New products should not always mean expensive pricing...</p><p>In Asia, new products are constantly being introduced. (Things move faster in Asia, and the menus change more often.)</p><p><br /></p>Yoshihttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00983823728317745827noreply@blogger.com0
