We have quiet a few finch families that comes to our place, but this pair comes more often:
Nice couple...and she saw my apple house:
Blog about birds and random things in life. We will write about daily Canadian life and wild birds (Hummingbirds and Finches and Chickadees). We also love Japanese/Taiwanese food/cultures. Please have a look and share!

Here is a picture of a hummingbird and a finch sitting peacefully together on the same branch.
So cute!! So peaceful~~
Hummingbird is okay to stay with other types of bird, but not other hummingbirds. Strange...
(Maybe it is a Canadian hummingbirds thing?)
Today is November 25th, 2021, and it is already quite a few days after BC flood. There is still nothing in Walmart in my area:
They say there is no supply shortage...not so sure..
There is still absolutely no meat:
How long is it gonna take to restock these shelves?
Lego released a Minecraft bumble bee set, and I bought it for my son's birthday. (One of the gifts he got)

The bees look very cute and my kids liked it! I think you get 7 or 8 bees with it.
There is a very friendly silver squirrel nearby my building near a park. Everytime, when we go out for a walk, it follows me. (probably looking for food)
They say that bright red or pink finches are more popular with females and genetically can gather more food than others. We have a few handsome finches that come by:
BC had an once per 100 years, historical flood that cripple the highway and rail systems. The supply chain system was also disrupted, and people started panic buying. Abbotsford, Merritt, Princeton were flooded. Many grocery shops ran out of food in BC including our area in Burnaby.
This is crazy. There is food shortage due to panic buying even though the government says there is no problems. I guess people worry and want to prepare ahead of time. All highways were shutdown but now, after few days, some are opening slowly. I hope this situation improves.
Animal Crossing had a very large update last week, and they also released a new series of amiibo cards (Series 5). All the websites had sold out of the cards the first day, and I finally found some on Amazon.ca. They were 7 Canadian dollars, and as usual, they had a 2 packs per person limit.
We rarely have sunny days and clear nights during winter in BC, western Canada. We took some nice pictures from our large telescope!
We are gonna donate our telescope to the high school nearby because I think they might have better use.
Different finch families will come visit everyday. They are so cute as they move as a family unit.
They like this bird swing:
Unfortunately, the bird on the right has Finch Eye Disease which is caused by bacteria, and need antibiotics to cure it. However, Canada has strict medicine policies that they do not sell those in pet shops. In the US, they are sold in shops, and you can also buy them online.
In BC and western Canada, we have a lot of Steller's Jay everywhere. They are opportunistic feeding birds. They will remember the locations of available feeders and food sources and keep coming back.
This Jay keeps coming back for our seeds, and I find it eats a lot and fast. I do not want him to keep coming because all the small birds were scared. (and he ate all the food!)
They are also cute, but I cannot feed the whole world...
The small birds were scared of him...and the woodpeckers
So I changed my kitchen lights for the second time in a few months.
These days, even brand name "Philips" kitchen light don't last long...
I think it broke within half a year. Gee...low quality. Well, they are 2 for 12 dollars in Walmart...
At around 11pm at night on November 7th, 2021, there was hail outside. We heard loud raining sound but did not sound like rain. It sounded like hail.
We went out and looked. It was hail. The kids used net to gather some pieces, and they turned into a small block of ice. Interesting!
Walmart usually has 50 percent sales after holidays, and they had it for Halloween, too.
I went on November 1st morning to check their sales. This year, they did not have much leftovers because they did not import as much to begin with.
There is this farm house decoration below. It is 5 dollars on sale. I didn't buy it as I think it should be cheaper. There is also the "thankful" tray and other decorations on sale.
