Chihuahua Sleeping with My Son

My Chihuahuas treat my son like a friend, and they enjoy napping and sleeping together.
I see many cute images like this everyday now.

Strawberry Picking in Langley

Langley, BC has lots of big strawberry farms, and they have a large amount of fresh strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, even corns.  The freshness, colours of the berries beats the market and the prices are reasonable.
We picked and bought lots of strawberries, and we will go again to pick blueberries.
The strawberries are so red and shiny!!

Harvey's in Canada

There are not too many Harvey's in BC, Canada, so we went to try it out in Coquitlam since they have collaboration with Home Depot.

The burgers are freshly made and the patties are quite large to almost restaurant level.  However, the price is almost restaurant level with combo at 8 to 9 dollars.
I do like the burgers though.

Pizza Hut in Washington States

Apparently, they have a new menu for Pizza Hut.  They started to have maccaroni in Pizza Hut, and we tried it last week.  It was okay.  I will give it a 60 percent.  However, I think they should stick it to pizza.

Wild Rabbit in Bellingham

We saw this wild rabbit in Bellingham.
It seems like someone bit his or her ear.

Shopping Outing in Trader Joe's in Bellingham

Trader Joe's a popular organic store which provides affordable groceries cheaper than grocery stores in Canada.  Organic products are expensive in Canada.  For example, if organic soup sells for 20 dollars in Canada, it is a reasonable 10 dollars in US.
The salami was delicious.
I have never seen the black truffle pizza.
The hawaiian bag is cute, too.  It is an excellent insulation bag.

Flashback: London: British Museum

British Museum, like the Louvre in France, has treasures from all over the world.
It is a good place to visit (could be crowded) and it is free!
We liked the Moai they have in their collection.

Flashback: Paris: Montmartre Hill and Moulin Rouge

People already dress well in the fashion capital of the world.
However, people, including tourists dress absolutely beautiful during the night to come to watch Moulin Rouge shows.
It was a 10 o'clock summer night and people were lining up for blocks for the entrance.  Lots of people were outside during the summer nights and it feels a lots different than Canada.

Montmartre Hill is a good place to enjoy the view of the whole Paris and see what local artists has to offer.

Lots of people in the night just gathered on the steps of the church and enjoyed the night view of Paris.

Chihuahua Sleeps with Pillow

I don't know if this happens to everyone who owns dogs.
My chihuahua sleeps on the pillow almost everyday, not sure why he needs it. haha
They are so cute!

Restaurant: Takano Ramen (Coquitlam, BC, Canada)

It is hard to find good ramen shop in Vancouver area, never mind okay ones.  Good ramen shops are only found in Downtown Vancouver or on Broadway, but not other cities around the Metro Vancouver area.  We actually found one good ramen shop with same kind of noodle and soup.  The cook was actually trained in a Japanese ramen shop before coming to Canada.  The shop is near by Coquitlam Centre, probably the best Japanese Ramen around Burnaby, Port Moody and Coquitlam.  Here are the pictures of Miso Ramen and Shio Ramen:

Vancouver Space Centre (Planetarium)

I am a little behind on my blogging in recent weeks.  (just too busy entertaining my son)  3 weeks ago, when the weather is still cool in May, we went to the Vancouver Space Centre for the first time.

Now, I know why not many local or tourists go there because it is old, so small with little technology.  It is incomparable with the big cities in the world and not even the planetariums in Taiwan 30 years ago.  The interactive film in the dome is not even "film".  It is more like a slide show.  The exhibit room was so old and small, it only entertained us for less than 10 minutes.  However, we did take a few pictures.  Here is a picture of my wife in space suit.

Flashback: France: Mont Saint Michelle

Mont Saint Michelle is a world heritage site that took more than 1000 years to complete.
It is a town, castle and also a church on an island off the French Coast.
It is situated in Normandy, 5 hours from Paris and it a very important historical and tactical place in times of war.

We were glad to visit this region and were in awe of the architecture of the whole structure standing on the island.

It is a place I would recommend to visit, and if possible, do not go here by tour group.  You will not have time to enjoy this place at all.

Flashback: Paris: Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame

We went to the Eiffel Tower last year, too.  It was hot and we did not want to wait inline just to get on the elevator.  Instead, we want to walk around the city to see as much as possible.

We also walked to Notre Dame because the subway system was under maintenance and with a baby, we managed to get there.

Flashback: Paris: Louvre and Opera

We went to the Opera theatre and Louvre in Paris as well.
The Opera is absolutely beautiful with golden statues on the top and the sculptures all around the building.
The interior is absolutely well designed as well.

The Louvre is a gigantic museum with lots of items for display and with lots of tourists.  It was crowded when we visited and you almost need a whole day to really see this place.
One of the most famous paintings it has is Mona Lisa; however, most of the paintings are influenced by religion.  If you want a variety of types of artwork, I would suggest people to visit d'Orsay.

Flashback: Paris Disneyland

Yesterday, we were viewing our video of France and England trip last year and felt very nostalgic.  I thought I might post a few pictures of our trip.  We really enjoyed the Disneyland experience even though our son was not even 2 and the food was excellent.  (a little pricey but good)

We only go on few baby rides and did not go into any attractions, but we did enjoy our stay of the day.  It was a hot summer day with lots of tourists and locals.  We went to the outlet mall one station away by metro.  The food in the Lion King themed restaurant was awesome even though it looked like standard fast food.
(the food in Paris was generally better than Vancouver in terms of western and fast food.

This fast food tray of fries and two kinds of fried chicken was delicious.

Lavender?

I found this flower around a park near my workplace, which looks like a purple stick with powder and two feather-like petals.  My wife says this may just be lavender.

Bento Lunch Box: Nibuta Bento

In Japan and Taiwan, lots of food such as meat, egg, tofu, tempura, etc are often marinated in soy sauce.
Soy Sauce marinated pork is called, "Nibuta" in Japan.  Last week, my wife made this "Nibuta" bento for me for lunch.  It was delicious....

New York Fries May Special

There is a special from New York Fries in May which you download this coupon from the website, and you can enjoy buy one get one free for any meals.
We bought two poutines for snack the other day.

Greater Vancouver Zoo in Abbotsford, BC

Vancouver has a zoo in the rural area and it is an hour away by highway by car.
It is a zoo of a good size, but sometimes, it is hard to spot the animals.
Of course, it is not close to New York, London, San Diego or other city's caliber, but I am glad that we have the zoo around this area.
They have a mini train (5 dollars per person) and a free safari bus ride.  The safari bus is only 15 minutes and you cannot feed the animal, so if you are expecting an experience like a true safari, you might be disappointed.
On the train, we could see moose, bison, bear and zebra.
There was an arctic wolf which looks like a husky dog.  It is very cute.
From the above picture, a bear had fun bouncing a ball up and down like playing basketball.

Jack In The Box

This is my first time to try the fast food chain "Jack in the Box" in the United States.
I have always wanted to try and see if they have the famous "Jack" toys.
They have good quality "fast food" just like Wendy's.
They have a variety of food: Ice Desert, Mexican, Sirloin Burgers, Chicken dishes...etc.
It is not available in Canada....
The Sirlioin burger and the mini burgers are excellent!
